Description: Recognizes a Faculty Senate member who has demonstrated exceptional dedication and service in support of the Faculty Senate. The award honors an individual whose contributions have strengthened the work of the Senate, supported its committees and initiatives, and enhanced its ability to serve as an effective voice for the faculty. While a nominee’s service and contributions over their entire tenure in the Faculty Senate will be considered, particular emphasis will be placed on contributions made during the previous year.
Eligibility: The award is open to current members of the University of Alabama Faculty Senate (excluding steering committee members).
Award: The recipient will be recognized each March and will receive a $500 stipend to support research, professional development, or other scholarly activities.
Nomination: Nominations may be submitted by any current member of the Faculty Senate (including alternates) or any University Administrator. Each nomination must include a brief statement describing the nominee’s contributions to the Faculty Senate and the basis for the nomination. Self-nominations are not welcome.
Selection: All nominations will be reviewed a by a selection committee. Two to three finalists will be recommended to the full Senate; the recipient will be selected by a vote of the Faculty Senate.
